Slid out for a quick hunt this morning to try to fill my final VA tag, and boy was it on FIRE.  Gobbling before I even sat down, from in front of me and behind me.  After what seemed like 100 gobbles, the bird in front started to fade away.  I figured he had hit a logging road and was going to work his way toward me, but he just kept fading.  The bird behind me however started to get more and more worked up, and started to get closer and closer.  I hoped he would work around the field edge from where he was and come around the corner, but instead he cut through the woods, RIGHT behind me.  His last gobble was about 50 yards behind me and soon after I could hear footsteps.  Fortunately he popped out about 10 yards to my left, saw the decoys, let out a putt, and at that point I thought I was doomed.  Then he goes into full strut and heads straight to the decoy, and that was the end of that for him.  I only had about 1 hr to hunt this morning, but what a fantastic Easter morning it turned out to be.  I'm all tagged out now, just need to get my daughter one more, then head up to PA to hunt with AJabbo and ZSully.  This is by far my best first-week ever in VA.

I feel like after this past week you might need to swing past a gas station and snag a ticket for that powerball. Must be living right because your on fire right now. Congrats!
