A lot of good advice on that particular situation so far. One big thing to know/understand is the terrain/obstacles between you and that field/bird. Is there a reason the bird is hanging up due to an old fence/downed tree/small drainage ditch. I've seen them not want to cross the smallest of obstacles for whatever reason. But I like the tactic of moving and calling from a different spot as long as you know you can do so undetected. You also don't have to do so much vocal calling from a new spot, but just scratch in the leaves so he knows you're still there but you're content on just feeding around instead of making it over to see him. Also, the silent treatment can be extremely deadly! But like others have said, you have to go silent or he'll stay there. Throw your calls to where you can't reach them to resist the temptation of calling to him again lol
