I live just across the border from NY State, and have hunted there a few times but not in about 5 years.  I'm looking into a hunt there next year and have come across the issue of pistol grips.  I've read what I can find an it seems our Rem 870 with fixed stock pistol grip is OK, but I'm not clear on whether a fixed stock pistol grip SA-20 is legal or not.  Can anyone confirm if a typical semi-auto "turkey gun" is legal in NY?

Bud that law is so confusing I know gun shops that won't answer that question. I would HIGHLY suggest calling the DEC and asking them. Thumbhole stocks are another confusing one.

All of those features are ok if the gun is a pump gun. Go figure.

That is the definition for rifles not shotguns. Same site just click shotguns.

Pistol grips on shotguns are fine. Not thumbhole.

Do you know NJ laws on this same matter.

Might also wanna look into the legality of ported choke tubes.  Especially in conjunction with some of the gun's features.
