Do you need to "scratch up" the playing surface on push pins like you do on a slate or glass call from time to time?

I know my aluminum and copper pot calls sound better after rubbing them with a green 3m pad.

I did not know if titanium or other surfaces would benefit as well.

Thanks for helping me with a stupid question.

Chalk is a big deal with push pins , it will let the peg have proper traction onto the striking surface

I prefer primos box call chalk , there ate other good ones out there but I've always used primos

I avoid calls with binders (wax)

When it's time to chalk my pushpins, (you will know), I take a clean, dry Kleenex and wipe the old chalk off the paddle. Then as Shannon says I use Primos Brown Chalk on the paddle. The call will be good as new......

Thanks. I did not think of that.

After the season, I wipe all of the chalk off of my calls. Chalk can hold moisture..
