Red dot sight question.

Is it possible to knock a red dot sight out of zero by bumping it (assumming everything is tightened down good) like you can on a scope? I dropped my shotgun when I picked it up on the bench and it came down on the bench right on the sight. I will take it to the range to check the zero before I take it out this fall, like I always do, but I was just curious about it now.

Absolutely.  This is an optic and if you hit it as hard as you stated, you need to check the zero just as you would with any other scope.  Go back to 12 to 13 yards with dove loads and see if it is still POA/POI.  If it is, one turkey round at 40 should be dead on as well.

You can even change your zero by removing your barrel from the receiver or if your mag cap isn't tightend to the same exact spot on every shot.

Not hard to change zero.

Thanks guys. I always check the zero on all my guns before a hunting season. I was just thinking about it and didn't know if it could change zero, like a scope would. I would have found out when I checked zero in September.

Agree, I added two small Sharpie marks on the barrel nut and receiver. when aligned, ensures its torqued exactly the same.
