What do y'all use to put a clearcoat on your finished wingbones, that won't mess up the thread, or Sharpie writing?

The lady at Hobby Lobby sold me on an epoxy that dried sticky, and is probably meant exclusively to be an adhesive. Lucky, I tested it on some bamboo first.

I have used regular clear, nail polish on thread wraps on a basic wing bone.
I've also use it to repair fishing rod guides, although the rod builders use a clear coat/ epoxy that I believe offers durability and flexibility without cracking.  May be something to look into

If you used epoxy and it dried "sticky", there was either something wrong with the epoxy or you mixed it wrong.

The epoxy I used was one of those 2 syringes in one. I have some spare pieces of bone I may retest on.

Humidity will effect how epoxy cures. Rainy days are no good for appling epoxy finishes. Atleast with my limited experience with fiberglass epoxy.

On the epoxy, Not being sufficiently mixed will definitely cause it to be tacky

I've applied the two-part epoxy and basically slathered it on the call, then rotate the call by hand until I've got the coverage I want.   Works pretty well, as long as I work fast before the epoxy begins to harden.  Is that the process for everyone else?

I use Testors Enamel.  I paint the turkey tracks on the call with acrylic and let that dry.  I then take the Testors and put two coats on and it works and looks great in my opinion
