calling cadence/rhythm

Hi Guys,

I have been a quiet old gobbler member for quite a while, and have learned A lot.  So thank you for that!! this is such a great online community.  I always hear to have a good calling cadence/rhythm. What does a good cadence/rhythm sound like??   is there any good online sound clips, videos that provide a template for it? 

I hope everyone has a great turkey season.   I have been jonesing to get back out there since it ended last year!

Put simply?  It sounds like a turkey.  Different birds have different sounds, but the cadence is often similar.  Different cadences mean different things as well.  A great way to learn turkey sounds is to be around turkeys in the fall.  Very vocal.  Also, there a lots of different videos and such of hens and the more you listen to, the more you will get the hang of it.

Look up videos of hens on YouTube. Match them. Doesn't have to be the perfect sound, but a good cadence will yield more results.

Like the previous guys stated, find some live hen videos on youtube.  Call right along with them as the video is playing.  Don't be afraid to put some feeling into the calls as well....just like those sassy ol hens do at times.

Along with practicing your calling cadence / rhythm this will in turn improves your overall calling. While listening to turkeys you will pick up on the different sounds and moods of the hens and gobblers. All of this takes time and the more time you spend with them the more you will learn. While doing all of this don't forget about adding feelings with your cadence / rhythm.  Listen to videos / sound files of hens and gobblers / Jake yelps sounds. A lot of people use different tactics in killing gobblers. Some like a more run and gun type of approach and others rely more on calling abilities. Nothing wrong with either tactic.  Welcome to the forum...  I will also add having good calls will help you in learning and will improve your calling ability / skills .. I would rather have 3 good calls than 10 bad calls.
