Haven't been on OG much lately because of the many summer/fall activities. caught some nice fish this summer - 28" walleye at the cabin over the 4th, 18 salmon from lake Michigan out of Baileys Harbor on the WI, Door county peninsula over Labor day weekend.  Lots of gardening and putting up the garden goodies. still got a few things going even after 2 early frosts. Helped my neighbor find and process his first archery buck of the season on Sunday. A Nice eight with a pretty big hole in his heart that barely bled to the outside and required a lot of searching to find after he did a really slick circle back, hide and die move.  Backstraps on the grill last night and a big pile in my freezer for my trouble.  Really warm and dry here. In fact my neighbors fire pit took off yesterday afternnoon after a small fire he had the night before and burned up a nice size chunk of grass in my lower yard. luckily one of my other neighbors saw the smoke and they had most of it out before the FD arrived.  We now have a county wide burning ban in effect.  Got a fall turkey permit for WI that goes to end of December so I will probably save that for after deer hunting.  Ruffed Grouse numbers are way up again this year in northern MN and some of the leaves are coming off so I will probably be hitting it hard for the next two months. Man I love ruffy hunting with my dog more than about anything and can't wait to get out.  Take care all and will let you know how it goes.
