If you have been calling to a bird and he stops responding. Sit your butt still for at least 30 minutes. Happened to me 2 weeks ago, I chased a bird a good ways. He gobbled a few hundred yards from me, then I heard him get shot. I cutt hard a few times. I knew he was dead so I was sitting still against a tree looking at maps on my phone, 30 minutes went by and he gobbles 27 yards in front of me. Hes still alive after I missed he twice as he was scooting off. Another trick. If hens are talking, talk back to them. Use same volume n language they are speaking. Good chance you call them to you, and he's in tow.
