My grandfather taught me that shooting jakes was just stealing longbeard gobblers from your future. He never did shoot one & I never will. I've had plenty of opportunities to take out jakes, but I can't make myself pull the trigger, even if it means tag soup. I've called in jakes for new hunters and kids to shoot, just to get them the taste of success. I'd rather hear the gobble and take on the challenge of hunting mature gobblers. Do what suits you & hunt your hunting style.
