Just did my annual permethrin spray down…

I know we have a posted thread up top but worth reminding to get some permethrin and spray down your exterior clothes and boots you'll be wearing this year. Ticks will mess you up in many ways plus it keeps other bugs off you as well. My buddy has the alpha gal allergy now and can only eat fish. No red meat or pork. All from a tick bite.

Easiest thing to do is get a yellow bottle of Sawyers pre-mixed permethrin, go outside, and spray down front and back of clothes and boots and hats. Let it set complete and dry. You should be good for the entire season more or less. Even with washes.

Yes you can get the permethrin in bulk and mix with water. That works too. For my time, I just pay more and get it pre-mixed.

Did mine Monday.

I prefer to completely drench all the clothes against my skin (pants, shirts, and esp socks) in a bucket (approx 2oz concentrate per gallon), wring out the excess, then hang dry.  The leftover drench I then put in a spray bottle and spray my boots, caps, and outerwear.

Hunted 7 counties in MS last year, plus another 4 states... didn't get a single tick or chigger the entire season.  Permethrin is some GOOD stuff!

 Good stuff - I've been using Permethrin for four years now and haven't seen a tick. Always treat my cloths the week before opening day.

I have a reminder on my phone.  I do it close to the opener so it will be "fresh" and hopefully last all season.  So far it has worked great for me.  I mixed my own for the first time the other day after reading the other thread about it.

I keep a spray bottle of homebrew in my truck door and spray my pants (especially around the waist and leg openings) and shirt every time I leave the truck.
Just a light mist.
Permethrin is not going to hurt you if you get a little on your skin.

It is great for ticks, but I got absolutely ate up last year with redbugs.  Had a hard time sleeping some nights my back itched so bad.  Treated my clothes and no more chiggers and no more ticks.

I treat my hunting clothes every year and urge our team mates to do so as well. Mine have been dried and then hung up to air out for two weeks now. I am completely sold on Permethrin and do the bulk/dilution/saturation route.

I been using it for years now. I usually wait until a week before season starts & soak my clothing in the Sawyer's. It's some great stuff.

Doing mine this evening and let them dry overnight. Then it's time to pack and get ready to leave next Thursday! I'm gettin' all tingley just thinking about it!!!
