Meadow Creek mount thoughts

Never owned a reflex sight before but decided to add one to this 20ga after season. The choke I use throws the pattern a fuzz left and so in the past I'd just held correction. Anyhow, decided to add a sight and wound up getting a Holosun 507C-GR X2. Really like the 32moa circle as that's an 8" circle at 25yds (about perfect) and it can double as a range finder in a pinch. Originally I wanted to drill and tap the receiver but I really like shooting this 20ga in the dove fields and thought a rib mount might be easier to put on and off. Initial thought is that it's a super solid set up. I shot a good bit today and it functioned great. I know all this boils down to personal preference and I know there's been plenty of posts about the Meadow Creek mounts in the past, but here's a benefit I noticed immediately that I haven't seen mentioned elsewhere: placing the sight on the rib above where you naturally place your off hand allows you to use the controls on the sight without taking your hand off the gun. Playing around with it today it amazes me how much better you could see if you get the brightness perfect for whatever situation. I could see having the ability of changing those settings without moving your hand being a huge benefit in the event that you were pinned down and the setting was too low or high. Food for thought.

Going to give one a shot on my next build.  They look slick and, much like yours, all of the reviews I've heard first hand have been good.

I have one and a Holosun for my 11-87. Not put it on yet but shouldered a buddy's and like it much more than on the receiver.

Out of curiosity what are the reasons why you prefer it over mounted on the receiver?

I find my field of view and peripheral vision is greatly increased with the meadow creek mounted farther away. Also quicker target acquisition also

I feel it does not block your field of view and it is more natural in pointing, like using a bead. Looking at it that way just had more of a natural feel and alignment that made for fast target acquisition.

Have one on a benelli and really like it wasn't sure if I would . It functions very well . Probably like the look of reciever mounted one better . But wanted to try this before I had my reciever drilled an tapped .. think I'll stay with it ..

Only have a small handful of shots on my meadow Creek mount but so far it's been real solid and I don't see any problems occurring. I also like the controls of the red dot right above my left hand. That is a very nice looking gun you have there. Love the wood on it.
