Congrats on the Tom, and thanks for sharing, I hope you get a chance to follow up on the Eagle, would think Wardens would do a autopsy? Are there a lot of Eagles in the area? Maybe a fight over the carcass?

I'm guessing lead poisoning.  The follow up will be interesting.

Maybe somehow he wouldn't let go of that fawn and he crashed into the ground. Cool find. I have found a nest and always wondered if I'll ever walk up to the nest and find something like  that.

Congrats on the turkey.  Bet you never thought you would stumble on to that find.  Be curious to see what caused the death of the bald eagle.

Hobbes

Just a guess, but seems like it would have released the fawn if shot. A good dose of electrical current would probably cause it to clutch the fawn even tighter.

Awesome fine, thanks for sharing the picture.. congrats on the gobbler also..

Congrats on the gobbler! Dang shame you didn't find the eagle before the meat ruined, I've heard it taste like chicken.

I'm sure that hunt will be one you will always remember! Congrats on the gobbler as well & thanks for sharing those photos. Definitely don't see that very often.

Thank you for sharing the pictures and congratulations of the turkey. Second eagle story I heard this week, other was from a fishing guide that watched an osprey attempting to attack and eagle in flight. Guide said every time the osprey would attack the eagle would turn with claws. Said the encounter between the two birds went on for about 5 minutes.

fallsflight

I wonder if it's talons got stuck in the skull, which eventually killed it.  The fawn is more deteriorated than the eagle.  Are you going to follow up with the wardens to see if they determined the cause?

That's something you just don't see every day.

The addiction will cost you time and money and alienate those close to you. I can give you the names of a dozen addicts — myself included — whose wives begin to get their hackles up a week before turkey season starts and stay mad until a week after it closes.

Very cool. I just read it online on the Outdoor Life Page. Shared with all my friends. Pretty cool it's a member here. If you find out anymore let us know. Bubba
