With all the additional turkey hunters out there are you a Covid hunter? Were you a turkey hunter 2 years ago? Are you turkey hunting because you have the time now because you're out of work due to Covid? With all the additional licenses sold nationwide a fair amount of you must be. I don't post this as a negative...just an inquiry.

 In a way:

I have worked more in the last year than I have ever worked. Didn't have time to take off in the fall to hunt much at all. Did get to go fishing for a week, which was awesome!

Now, I have more vacation time saved up than ever.... I took off every other week starting 3-22/Florida. Into today, my forth week. I Will squeeze out another before spring is done.

Covid hunter? Maybe. But this is my 32nd season spring turkey hunting.

Got worked into the dirt from February of last year until opening day of turkey season this year. Never took any kind of leave for covid. But I did take some leave . That paternity leave baby . 6 weeks. Haven't used any vacation yet..... but I've been off work. I've killed several turkeys , I'm not gonna abuse it by taking a ton of vacation on the backend . I'll just save it for deer season.

I hunt about everyday regardless but I caught covid 3 days before the opener and got to hunt everyday and not be pushed for time to get back to work and got paid for doing it without using any vacation. Perfect timing

Retired last year and COVID ruined most of my travel plans for 2020.  Making up for that this year.
Definitely not a COVID hunter.
Love to hunt the King of Spring!

GobbleNut

Definitely not a "covid hunter",....but I am a "recently-retired-with-a-lot-more-time-to-go-turkey-hunting" turkey hunter!  Over the next few years, I plan on making up for about 40 years of not being able to get away from the business for more than a few days at a time!   ;D

I just hunt and think turkeys 365 days year. Covid Hunter No.. retirement is awesome...

This last year has been a beast for me. Work has been non stop, constant pressure to support people working from home. COVID canceled all my 2020 turkey hunting except one weekend.

This spring got some good local weekend trips in hunting Osceola's. Tomorrow going to Black Hills for a well deserved vacation. Hunting will be a blast but just grateful to be getting out taking some time off.

Hunting turkeys 30+ years, local/travel for 20 years.

Not a covid hunter. Just a swing shift hunter. I get 7 days off in a row every month so a little vacation on top of that and I get lots of time to hunt every year

This forum might not be the best pool to choose from, as far as new hunters due to Covid, because the vast majority on the forum were likely already turkey hunting.  I'm sure a few are new, but by and large those that recently started based on free time created by Covid are probably few in number on the forum.  This season hasn't been quite as crowded as last season in my neck of the woods.  Last year was a circus, with no school, no sports, and limited work.

I'm 28 so I can't speak for years of experience, but I still feel like hunter numbers are going down. They may be high in your "destination locations" that the internet has taken a toll on-black kettle, black hills, etc. But in other parts of the country, I don't see many hunters at all. I didn't see a single hunter on the 2nd day of the PA season opener. I think that speaks for itself

In my 25th season have hunted a handful of states. Tried the new fangled chokes, guns, loads, custom calls and decoys at one time or another. Rotated back to my original 870 with a bead, factory rem "Super full" and 3" lead 6's  with the ol lohman thunderdome, however the custom striker stays and I have adopted the reaping technique with a dried and bondo cured turkey fan a few times.
