Al Holbert Enticer Aluminum Calls

The "Your choice of Aluminum" topic started me thinking about what great luck I've had with my Enticer Silver Thunder Aluminum call by Al Holbert.  The combination of Al's aluminum and corian top and bottom have helped me call into range some very difficult gobblers in some very difficult situations. I've harvested some multi bearded gobblers, maybe 5 or 6, but the picture I'm attaching with the four beard and other beard on the board was a little tougher than most. The multi beard is 10.685, 9.5,  8.25, and 7.5 inches. The single beard is 10.5 inches. For 15 years I had permission to hunt some land and then it was sold to a guy who doesn't like hunters and posted it. He even feeds cracked corn to the turkeys every spring to try to keep them on his property. I still have permission to hunt land on the other side of the dirt road from his. Driving down the road one morning I saw three gobblers in the posted field, 2 big ones and a smaller one, about 400 yds from the road. I drove past them about a quarter mile, parked and went up on the land I could hunt, walked a few hundred yards to get opposite the gobblers and set up on a wooded hillside 150 yds. from the road where I could see the them. Tried a box call, slate call and a glass without even getting a gobble and then used the aluminum side of Al's  Silver Thunder and got some reaction.  The two big ones gobbled a couple times and stayed put.  It took me about 45 minutes to get the 3 coming my way and they retreated twice when trucks drove by. Then they came to the road and wouldn't cross it, just walked along the barb wire fence back and forth in some thick bushes for a while. I switched to the corian side and called softly and after a few minutes they crossed the road and came in. The two big ones were in the lead and as they got in range were walking so close to each other I couldn't shoot without getting them both. I don't like to get my two gobblers on the same day so kept waiting for them to separate but no matter what way they turned as they walked around 25-30 yds. from me their heads were so in line I couldn't shoot without getting both. The smaller one stayed back. After about 5 minutes they got suspicious and started to walk away so I tried to only get one but a couple stray pellets got the other one in the head and I had both. So, 2 birds with one shot, total beards length 46.435 inches. That should be some kind of record!  The Enticer Silver Thunder has called in lots of birds for me. I usually use both sides. Kind of depends on the situation which I use first and most. The multi beard bird would be the state record by at least 10 points and, at the time, would have been #31 in the country. The birds I call off the posted land are usually pretty heavy because of all the corn they get fed. I don't enter birds in the NWTF book but if I did I'd have 3 in my state's top ten.  All three were multi bearded and were taken within 2 miles of each other so I'm sure it's passed on genes.  I sent the 4 beard to Al Holbert when I was throwing away beards a year ago. He said it was the best one he'd ever seen. I told him to show it to hunters and tell them it's the kind of gobbler you can get with his Silver Thunder.    I'll attach a 3 beard picture, too.

Since I purchased my Silver Thunder from Al Hobart it has always been in my vest when I hunt turkeys. My birds don't have multiple beards but some have been heavy. Mr Hobart makes great calls and I love his slogan, "calls hunters swear by, not at". I had the pleasure of meeting Mr Hobart at a sportsman show in Massachusetts and he is quite the salesman. His calls work, I can attest to that. And Mr 1dgobble I enjoyed your post, quite a hunt. I agree with you Enticer Turkey Calls work, they are effective.

I've got the same aluminum call and one of his glass calls. I keep them with me when it looks like rain. Hard to beat his calls in the rain but if it's going to be blue bird days, I rarely reach for them. Not that they don't do their job. I've just got other calls I prefer to run most days. In fact, I need to get this glass call that sirdiealot gave away earlier this year for a good test. I'm sure it'll do just fine too. So long as it isn't raining. Then Al's calls are coming along.

Have the same call as OP, found both sides to be very effective, wet or dry weather. I may switch out and use other calls, but Al`s Silver Thunder call is ALWAYS with me.
