Buffalo gnats

This year ,in Illinois,the Buffalo Gnats/Black Flies (whatever you chose to call them) are awefull , My cousin lost about half of their chickens.My question....do/can they kill turkeys,or their young..

I don't think black flies can kill turkey poults.  They have been with them a long time.
