I am thinking about looking for and buying a Remington 11-87 Premier in 20 gauge for my backup turkey gun. With that, I had some questions about barrels I was hoping folks here might help me with.
1) From what I've seen, a 26" barrel came standard on 11-87 20 gauges. But I've also seen that a Compact model was made with a 21" barrel and an Upland Special with a 23" barrel. What other shorter length barrels are out there with interchangeable chokes?
2) I've read that when the 11-87 was first produced the barrels were criticized for being heavy. Remington responded, at least for the 12 gauge, with a 'Light Contour' barrel. Was the same offered in 20 gauge?
3) Besides searching GunBroker and eBay, does anybody have recommendations for finding barrels? I've already looked at Midwest Gun Works and Optics Planet, but what they do list is sold out (and I'm guessing never to be replaced, right?).
Thank you!
