Hey guys got a question here. Ive tried some different types of chalk for my box calls and was wondering what type you guys prefer. Ive been real happy with carpenters chalk but was thinking of trying rain chalk to see what different tone it would give my calls. Thanks

Rain Chalk is good stuff. I always carry a piece with me, it will draw off
moisture from your calls and works on pot calls as well. I use it in place
of regular chalk on my box calls.

I'll second Dewey's post.  I had the privilege of talking to Jim Davis, the inventor of Rainchalk before he passed on.  He told me about the studies they did at a local university here in AR where they used the term "flash dry" to describe what Rainchalk does to moisture.  I use it on my personal box calls as well as friction call surfaces.   I won't use anything else.

That is really good to know lights out. Where is the best place to order from. I have only seen it on grassy creeks site.

You can buy it from Midwest Turkey Call supply.

Do you apply it the same as other chalk?

Yep, and after this week (9 straight days of wet weather) rain chalk is my new best friend. I used it so many times to dry out my pot calls and strikers. I started rubbing a bunch of it on the cuff of my glove and then giving the strikers tips a work over through it every so often. Worked great.

Can it be used dry like regular chalk?
