NEF question?

I have a NEF 20 gauge with a fixed modified barrel. I was wanting to buy a full choke factory barrel and shoot some federal heavy 7's that i just bought through it, but was wondering if i can change the barrel myself or if I have to send it to the factory.

Colonial Arms in Alabama will thread your barrel to accept screw in chokes for roughly the cost of a new barrel,then you have more options.I got mine back in less than 2 weeks,great service.

You can change the barrel your self.  It is not hard to do.  Less then 5 mins you have it read to go.  If I was going to get the new barrel for it I would look at the trap barrel.  It is longer with rib for sights and screw in chokes.

I sent my receiver back to H&R for a 20 gauge 28 inch interchangeable choke vent rib barrel. You can look up all the info at h&r's accessory barrel program. Took about 6 weeks total door to door.

You can ship to the Factory and for cheap they will fit a new barrel to your gun.  I am going to upgrade to a 3.5 inch barrel next year.

To obtain an additional barrel(s), please take the following steps:
Open the firearm by pressing the release lever, and be sure the chamber is empty.

Remove the forend screw and forend.

With firearm fully open, lift the barrel off the hinge.

Carefully package the stock, forend and frame (receiver) for shipping. (DO NOT SHIP YOUR EXISTING BARREL.) Send by U.S. Mail or U.P.S. insured to the following address (DO NOT MARK THE NATURE OF THE CONTENTS ON THE OUTSIDE OF SHIPPING CARTON):
