Trumpet mouth piece materials

I am attempting to make a trumpet call. I see that there are a lot of materials used for mouth pieces, with delrin being mentioned a lot. How is the mouth piece attached to the call? Some are permanently attached and some are removable.
What other materials are used for mouth pieces?
