Really nice .. i just use clean nail polish for the shine ....

I use the clear nail polish on my beaks for skulls, I do wear my "Spur Chain" at some banquets, seminars and events I do. The nail polish seems to "wear" down on these. I'm sure for a set on display they would keep the shine.

Hacksaw with a vise

Do not use loppers!  My buddy gave me a set if spurs to clean up for him and he broke one half of the bone off using loppers. Terrible idea!

Hacksaw IN the vise. I clamp the frame of the hacksaw with it blade side up in a vise. Then I hold either side of the leg and draw it towards me on the blade to slowly cut the spur section loose. Takes a couple minutes with controlled even pulls. This way you don't risk the bone breaking.

Hacksaw leaving 1/16 on each side of the spur. A sharp blade to cut the scale off. Boiled spur side up with the bone in the water for 5 min. Knock out marrow, scrape excess meat off then soak in peroxide just the bone, again spur side up for a few hours. Thread on rawhide in descending size.
