Got out to some public land mid morning. Mainly I was deer scouting and calling periodically. Reached one spot that I was wanting to scout pretty good but decided to call first. Gobble bursted out not very far. Rushed to set decoys up and pick a tree to sit by. As soon as I was ready I saw this guy easing my way but paralleling me. Then I saw another one. They went behind some downfall and I lost them. A strutter caught my eye farther back. I soft called and finally they appeared walking toward my jake. Unfortunately, the strutter stayed behind. As these two were posturing over the jake I drew. The bigger bird took a few steps to my right but behind some limbs. This guy was left in the opening so I settled for him. Wasn't going to let one get away. Small bodied bird, double beard 8.5" and 6.25", 1" spurs, weighed 17.1 lbs.
