If I want to fill my tag, then I prefer to go alone. I like being able to change set ups as I please, leaving the blind behind and not worrying about who is moving, talking too loud. I have a few partners that I like to hunt with. Two newer guys and one that brought me in somewhat. I helped both the newer guys get birds this year. That was a blast just watching them.
The hunting with a new partner I get somewhat frustrated when they hesitate on a Tom and then nail a Jake. It happened with 4 birds they got. . all Jakes when all 4 birds they could have had a Tom had they shot earlier, had their gun ready, not moved as much. The rewarding thing is that I think they probably didn't care because they were happy with their birds. Going into it, I knew I wasn't the primary gun and I'm not going to tell people when and what to shoot. They asked 'what about you?' and I just told them 'don't worry about me. . .if I have a shot after you shoot then I'll take it.' Overall, very rewarding to see someone with their first bird and I sure as heck am not going to ruin it by saying. . .'ahhh, a jake?'

Its best for the turkey if I don't hunt by myself!

Most of the time I hunt solo. I did hunt with my buddy a couple days this past season in Kansas and it worked out pretty good. 2 pairs of eyes were better than 1. I am right-handed and he is left-handed. I called up a boss gobbler that came out on my right side and I couldn't turn because there was a bush in my way and my buddy, being he is left handed and sitting on the side of me smoked him. It is harder to move on birds with 2 hunters but it does have its advantages.
In fall we rut, in spring we strut

Does not matter to me at the beginning of the season, actually prefer to go in pairs. Now after I have a gobbler crap on me a couple of times, I get ill and become obsessed with him. I will then go alone, because I may stay on him daylight to dark and never leave him. I don't expect the others I hunt with to hang in there with me like that, so I just go alone.
About 40% of the turkeys I have killed I was alone, the others with another hunter. I enjoy doubling on birds the most though!

For the past 30 years I have hunted most of the time alone. The last 2 years I let my son come to Missouri for the ten day trip. This year he did not go, I hunted alone 90% of the time there. At times I was looking around and wished he was there.
He is a jr and his high school the ball team and girlfriend have knocked dad down a few pegs. But here at home in Pa we have hunted together. Killing 4 longbeards to boot...
Don't gobble at me...

Use to hunt almost always by myself, but lately have been working in trips with guys off my team or people from this Site, and it's been very enjoyable.

My kids aren't old enough to hunt yet but when they are I am definitely taking them with me! That being said, the few times I have hunted with others we didn't have the best of luck. You are doubling the movement, doubling the sound, doubling the potential blunders! I'd rather increase my odds by going solo.

When hunting alone the only problem I have is getting in before light. I have a very good imagination and am a scaredy cat. After it is light, when there is nothing going on, it sure would be nice to have a buddy to talk to. don't think it would hinder us at all.

I go it alone except when I take my grandson.
If I had a dollar for every gobbler I thought I fooled I'd be well off!
