Went out with my dad on Saturday morning. Had been listening all week leading up to Saturday and hadn't heard any gobbling but this bird decided to gobble on the roost around 615 am we closed in on him and got within sixty yards of him in the tree. He was roosted near an old open homesite in some hardwoods. I did a fly down with my hat and he cut it off with a gobble I responded with a few soft yelps and some scratching in the leaves and remained silent.  Heard him fly down around 630 ish he gobbled on the roost a total of 6 times. He gobbled on the ground twice I answered with a few yelps after the second gobble and he came In to the edge of the old home site around 710 for a shot. The bird was a jake but i really was happy to harvest him and enjoyed the hunt with my dad. We sat with the bird in the woods for the next hour listening to a bird gobble until 830 across the property line and drank coffee. In the picture is my 7 month old son, who I can't wait to take on on future youth days. We fried one of the breasts up as schnitzel.
