Shot at 10:00 am this morning. Pics to follow, need to go get new tires for Jeep, when I walked out one of my tires was flat.
Started out at a spot where we had spotted birds quite frequently, unfortunately it was dead silent there. Did have one hen come half strutting into decoys, wish I had my camera then.
Around 7:30am went down road to spot where the birds generally cross the field into woods around 9:00am, once again that plan changed as the birds were already strutting in front of my blind and heading north which was okay because I could get around in front of them without spooking them. After getting around sat for about an hour with no sight of any birds coming from east which is where they should of came from. Decided to call it a day, got out of ground blind and checked field and there was a bird to the west so snuck back into blind, did some calling and bird came running into decoys, damn it's a hen, mind you she was a huge hen. Half hour later figured call it a day so get out of blind and check field once again, once again to the west there is a bird, only I can see the head on this one and it is big and white. Sneak back into blind and do some light calling. He is about 200 yds away, but as soon as he hears the calling he puffs up and struts the whole way to the decoys, what a show!! Dropped him at 12 yds. Little closer than I was hoping for but better than too far. Time of death was 10:00am. Another season in the books. Can't wait for next year.
