I'm looking into buying one just wondering on what kind of wood would y'all use to make the best sound.

I have made a few in zebra, walnut, purpleheart, yellowheart, and hickory. They all sounded well to me but I have had more success stories with the purpleheart and walnut. And they all had glass soundboards. If that helps you.

Long answer: With the ones I make I seem to get a cleaner, more nasal hen sound in the heavier woods like apple and oak. The lighter woods like padauk and mahogany tend to be raspy screamers. Woods like maple and walnut are usually right down the middle. That's usually what I find at least.
Short answer: padauk is awesome
