It used to be Ziricote and Claro Walnut.....But....I think Blue Mahoe is a new favorite wood of mine. It has such a lively sound. Crystal/Slate, Purple Slate Glass(if you look close even has a little marbling of green) and Red Slate Glass..

Then Rutland Dymondwood strikers.... It is my favorite material for a striker. Rolls over nice and plays on anything with good rasp and volume.

Nice looking equipment you have there. My henbox is Blue Mahoe

Thanks! Blue Mahoe is a simple but yet classy wood. More than anything is the way the sound comes out so crisp and clear with good volume.

noisy box call that seems to sound like a flock of juvenile hens pecking their way through a wheat field

Thanks everyone! I enjoy trying different surface materials and different woods.. It is crazy the differences between the four different colors of slate.
