Which Mouth Call Jig?

After years of turkey hunting, I'm ready to try my hand at building my own mouth calls. Which call press is recommended? Looking at the feather ridge hand press and the lil jiggy from Ricky joe bishop. Any others? Thads gauge press looks nice but a little pricey for me right now. Thanks.

I have the Feather Ridge and really like it. Building my own has really upped my mouth call skill.

Totally agree with Terry's comment.  Anybody that wants uses mouth calls and wants to be the very best they can with them should eventually start building their own calls.  You can go the expensive route and buy a press,...or the less-expensive route and buy a jig,...or you can build them without anything other than a few simple items that you probably have around the house right now.

Regardless of how you go about building them, it will be worth it in terms of improving your calling ability with a mouth call.

I am sure the jig is not as precise as the press. But for my own personal use I feel it's more precise than I need it to be. I'm solely speaking about the Feather Ridge from Thad.

I use scissors to trim the tape after I use a ruler to measure out starting points. It works really well without spending the money on a cutter.

Again,...agree.  Unless a guy plans on building a LOT of calls either commercially or for a bunch of friends, buying a press is probably an unneeded expense.  A jig,...or the jig-less method,...is the way to go.
A great template for the tape cut is an appropriate-sized pill bottle bottom.  Just trace the cut outline with a pen and cut with scissors.
