Opening morning.  The sun was up.  The wife and i were after tree rats.  I knew a spot where they would be.  I was laying there resting, she got up and walked to look at the spot.  There they were.  2 tree rats.  I was using my bow.  There was one at 15 yards and the other was at 20.  I slowly got into position and drew back.  I was aiming at the 15 yard mark.  The arrow flew and missed.  The squirrel ran to the other tree rat at 20.  I knocked another arrow.   The first one hauled butt.  The second stayed where he was.  I slowly drew and put the sight on him.  The arrow flew true.  I watched him scramble toward a small tree about 20 yards away.  At this point the coffee pot was beeping.  I tossed the bow on the couch, threw on my slippers and chased him across the yard.  He couldnt get up the tree in the fence line because of the arrow.  I knocked him in the head, came in and poured myself a cup of coffee.

The next day (today) there were 2 starlings in the same spot at 20 yards.  Wife drew back and her arrow flew true as well.

Here are the pics

You just have to be a little more stealthy when the neighbors are out in the yard.    ;D

Squirrel season in AR means you can hunt hogs on the local WMA with rimfire rifles again.

Although the AGFC won't come out and say it, I really think that is in part due to the increase in the hog population.  They won't allow you to hunt them at night or with dogs or trap them on public land.  The squirrels are thick around the places I hunt, so I doubt their population will be significantly decreased, but I do think the season has something to do with the increase in hogs on public land.  Although some folks can cook squirrels in a way that you could eat, there's not enough meat on them for me to mess with (unless I'm giving them to someone who would eat them).  Hogs on the other hand...  fire up the smoker!

There is nothing I like to see better than a starling with an arrow through it. I hate those buggers. Rats with wings..Mike

May I assume you're not here to inquire about the alcohol or the tobacco?
If attacked by a mob of clowns, go for the juggler.
