I'd pick up Kenny Morgan's two books..   Turkey Hunting: A One Man Game and America, Wild Turkeys & Mongrel Dogs
Thanks for the suggestion, they are both on my wishlist on Amazon. This is the wishlist if you care to see it. https://smile.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/3RQCKT5W0NAK8?&sort=default

I thought all collections started with the Tenth Legion
Thinking causes brain damage, I was an intelligent child. I have never done anything the "normal" way. To be honest I had never even heard of Tenth Legion, Tom Kelly or Gene Nunnery or Old Pro Turkey Hunter before I joined this site. My first two turkey books were the one top row second to last and Lovett Williams Jr.'s Book of the Wild Turkey but then I had my car accident and did not read or watch anything about any kind of hunting because I never thought I would be able to do it again and it hurt to much to see anything about hunting. Thanks be to God for letting me hunt again!

I love to read but read incredibly slowly for whatever reason, so I have not read as many as you might think.

I understand that Tom Kelly types real slow to help those who don't read fast.

I just read double gobble by Bobby Dale and really enjoyed it. I'm also trying to build a collection of turkey books. I'd like to collect calls but they are expensive and I use mostly mouth calls anyway so I'd rather spend the money on books at this point.

Added it to the wish list. Actually I thought it was already on there but it was not so thank you. Yes calls can get very expensive for sure. Some books too. I was going to pick up a copy of Tenth Legion when I ordered some other stuff on Amazon the other day but the copy that was in my price range sold and all the others are just to pricey for me.

The book "Tenth Legion" is on the Tom Kelly website for thirty dollars, the CD audio is 25.00
this book is the corner stone of your collection.

I would sell a pot call or something if I had to and get a copy and read it before this spring season.
It's worth it.

I actually traded a call for the double gobble book I got.

No way I am selling a call to get a book. Only way I would sell any of my calls is if there was some kind of emergency with my family in Oklahoma and I had to get money to get there quickly.  I did not know he had a website, maybe I can get the book next month but if all goes according to plan I am putting a vehicle on the road then so it may have to wait until after turkey season.

I hear ya. I'd like to collect a bunch of calls but I would probably only carry a few of them.  I do like wood working and wood species, trees, tone woods and music so I have to refrain from diving all in on the turkey call thing.

Has anyone read Hunting the Wild Turkey by Tom Turpin?  It looks like an older book. I really enjoy the stuff with stories more than instructional type stuff.

I honestly think a lot of the call collecting is because of my father collecting antique furniture when I was growing up, I honestly can't afford that kind of stuff but I can many of the calls and I can appreciate the wood grains and so on like he did with his furniture. Of course I love to hear the different sounds that different wood pots, soundboards and striking surfaces make in all the different woods too and it aids in turkey hunting :D

Few new books added, all but the top two were a gift from a member and all autographed. I will read my duplicates and keep the autographed copies for collecting. I do not know if he wants to be named so I will just say thank you again.

I've read it, very good book

it's part of a 4 book reprint collection still available on the Lovett Williams website.
all 4 are very good books (Jordan, Simon Everett, Davis and Turpin)

The Turpin book is available separately for @ 20.00
