Well, the season is just opening up here in Kansas. I haven't killed a gobbler yet, but I'm so busy with school, I've only been able to hunt once so far. Last weekend during the bow season I had a very close call with a longbeard, just couldn't make the shot happen with my bow. I know where he's staying, so I think I can slip in there with a shotgun this weekend and get him. I'll likely be tagged out with my 2 turkeys within the next couple of weeks. I'm an agronomy student at Kansas State, and classes get out after the first week of May. I've only ever killed turkeys in Kansas and Missouri, and I'd really like to try hunting somewhere different when school gets out. I'm curious as to which states you guys think would be good options for a DIY, May turkey hunt. I'm not interested in, nor can I afford a guide, so it would need to be some place with solid public land access. I'm a poor college student, so decently priced tags would sure be a bonus too. States like Wisconsin, Maine, etc come to mind, but I'm open to going anywhere. I love a good road trip, and my pickup already has 250,000 miles on it, so what's a few hundred more?
