Long story short the early AM was silent, got a thunderstorm the weather folks were not calling for and after an hour of blind calling I got a bird into 60 yds @ 11:30. He would not cross the open field between us. It was dead calm wind, absolutely nothing between he and I but 66 degree air and sunshine. I did not shoot him even with the knowledge my little Franchi would have folded him up like an origami swan @ that distance. The other lease members think I have lost my mind and are considering having me committed for a 3 day evaluation.
I have already had a great season...killed an Osceola, called in a whole flock of longbeards and jakes for my friend's little boy and missed one yesterday because I am too stubborn to wear my glasses in the morning. I may live to regret today's decision but we are only in the first week of WV season.
