It needs to dry out and get warm here in Lackawanna county....Maybe the second half of the season will be better when we can hunt all day.

Hearing birds every day so far in central PA, but can't get them to play the game.  I guess my calling isn't up to par yet.  I had one yesterday come off the roast without hens and make a big circle around my son & I and never quit gobbling the whole time, but didn't come into range to get a shot.  Oh well, there are a lot of hunting day left.

yep the season is over  .the birds are henned up really bad im thinking the last week of the season may be the best.

I only heard one gobble Saturday. Monday before work I went to a different spot and they were gobbling pretty good on the roost and after hitting the ground. It was tough to walk away from but jobs ain't easy to find.  ;D

The last 4 years have been terrible at my uncles property in northern Susquehanna county so I didnt expect much of anything but a friend had never killed a turkey or ever seen one strut so I said Id take him out for a few days before I head to NY for my usually trip. got there Friday afternoon in a light rain and ran into 2 birds strutting for 5 hens and 1 jake in the middle of the driveway. they took about 10min to strut off into the fields within 20yds of my car. later at 7:30 we were eating dinner when one struts up with a jake and 2 hens again about 15yds from the house crossing the driveway.

saturday morning we worked the bigger bird hard for several hours he gobbled at least 200 times and was mostly between 70-90yds away but in sight not allow us to make any moves. later 4 jakes cam in to 10yds when i flashed them a strut fan and did that choking jake gobble in our faces. made a move about a half mile to a long green field and hit the crow, one answers back just outside the field. quick tossed out the decoy and sat down. one series of yelps and he was in the field and strutting at 170yds but strutted right across to the other side to a hen. they went down in a hollow for about 10min when the hen came back out and straight to the decoy (game on) nope the tom decided he would stay in the hollow and gobble til noon. then hen was at 8yds feeding around my Zink hen and we could move on him til hunting was over.

sunday no hunting but we saw birds from the house all day long. jakes, hens, and 3 long beards. sunday night we roosted the birds and it was on. monday we set up on the edge of a food plot put the decoy out and didnt make a call while the birds gobbled on the roost. birds pitched to the field and immediately began the strut and gobble dance down the hill. at about 40yds my slightly nervous and excited friend moved his gun too fast and birds folded and fast walked right into the woods before he could shoot. I swung rose up to my knees so I could just see a red head gave a sharp cutt on the hooks executioner and squeezed off a round of hevi-13. bird dropped and didnt move with at least 100 pellets in the dome at 33yds. shot the smaller of the 2 toms

19lbs 7oz, 7.75in beard, 1in spurs.

rest of day yielding little gobbling and no more sightings. disappointed my buddy didnt get his first but he learned and saw a ton. I got one under the belt and will take my Wife out on friday before leaving on a 5 day NY hunt.
