I wanted to remind the turkey hunters here to be aware of ticks and check thoroughly after hunting. We have all found ticks on us if you hunt in the south. I have always checked and been aware but after both parents of a friend got lymes disease from ticks I keep check often now. Often they wont be seen easily. Below is the smallest I have ever found. Got it off the back of my arm yesterday.

Thanks for the Heads Up gobbler 74. I hate those little buggers. So far I have only found 1 on me. That was in Florida. For those of you folks that dont know, spray all your clothes & gear with REPEL PERMANONE. Its really good stuff. I get it at Southern States here in Va.  :newmascot:

Yeah, we're loaded with them in the Hudson Valley.
I just got back from opening day and had zero ticks on me. I use Sawyer's. Works great.

Up here, we have the big ticks, and the smaller variety, deer tick. The little ones are the one's that carry the Lyme's disease..Check carefully for the little ones..Mike
May I assume you're not here to inquire about the alcohol or the tobacco?

God made ticks so we could find a reason to love skeeters.  UGH ! I hate ticks. Up until 3 years ago I didn't even know we had the nasty so and so's in Michigan.

Last year I sat down to handle business on my backwards porcelain desk and I looked down at my thigh.  I thought hmm, I have a freckle I didn't know about (hold the comments), sure enough it was a tick.  Been extra wary this year after I had one crawl on my face in early season.  Always good to check even after simple yard work or mowing the grass as well!!!

Here in southern VA, I got covered yesterday by the little ones, probably got 60-70 off of me, kept walking thru what I guess are nests of the little things, got lucky and got them off in time all but one on the back of my leg.  Freaks me out when this happens, can't concentrate on birds for constantly flicking off ticks, pine woods seem to be a lot worse the open hardwoods.

Agreed on the pine woods being infested.  When I hunt hardwoods in higher elevation  I hardly find any but lower elevation around creeks, pines and flat lands are terrible.
