Our season here in north dakota is around the corner and I was looking for a new turkey choke for my browning maxus invector plus with a 26" barrel. I was looking at the jellyhead, the ssx from truglo, and the longbeard xr by trulock. I usually shoot birds between 20 and 40 yards. Which choke would go well with this gun? Are all of them about the same? What loads run best with the different choke options?

I have a Browning Gold 3 1/2" from the last year before the Maxus. Very similar gun, I shoot a Patternmaster Code Black turkey choke and it will never be changed from that gun. I shoot Longbeard 3 1/2" #5's and it is devastating at ethical distances, In this  12 ga, I will never shoot anything else. Al Baker

I shoot 3" #6 Longbeard shells in a 26" Maxus with the Trulock Longbeard XR #6 choke and it does quite well. Seems to pattern best within the first 5 or 6 shots after cleaning the barrel.

Call William at SumToy. I have the same gun and shoot a SumToy .665 choke and Longbeard XR  3.5 inch #6's.  Works for me. Good Luck with your choice.

I used to run that exact gun, and had my best results with a Sumtoy .675 (pretty sure) and Hevi-Shot Magnum Blends. Threw a really good pattern.

That's from my Maxus at 50 yards with an Indian Creek .675 with 3" Longbeard #5's. Had to contact the guy that makes them because most of his invector + chokes are  .665 which I tried (from my bps) and it was too tight. I could go on and on about what I've tried with my Maxus. If you want more info just message me. One piece of info I have found about patterning shotguns is just because a certain combo works in my Maxus doesn't mean it will necessarily work in another (or any gun for that matter). Just my two cents.

I have a Primos Jellyhead in my invector plus gun and it does 170-185 in the 10 with 3.5 inch 2oz longbeard 5's. It is a .670 cionstriction

I'm fairly new to buying strictly turkey chokes but are any of them going to be too tight at close range? I've shot so many within 15 yards and would kind of like room for some error. Is the spread still good at these close ranges?

Hevi shot .664 best I found  I have same gun

I like the IC 665 and a SumToy 672 with Longbeards 3.5" 5's or 6's and Hevi Mag Blends.
