I have an 870 wingmaster with a  2 3/4" chamber and a fixed modified choke that belonged to my dad. Was curious if any body had found a decent Turkey load that worked in a modified choke.  My dad took many turkeys with it with high brass #6 and I have killed a few also but probably wouldn't try it past 25 yds. I have no intention of changing the gun in any way.

If you ever watch the early Primos Videos Will Primos is hunting with a modified fixed choke 870 and kills Gobblers clean at 30-40 yards. Im not for or against TSS I just don't use it but this might be a case were the TSS loads would be your best bet. I think Apex loads 2 3/4 now and I've also been told the larger shot sizes like 7s or 8s pattern pretty well with a modified choke might be something to look into. Otherwise without a choke tube change( which I wouldn't do either) you'll have to try a few different brands and sizes. If you keep it 25 and under you should be able to find a factory  shell that works, a lot of turkeys were killed with the same set up before all the choke tubes and super shells
If you make everything easy how do you know when your good at anything?

You can still find 2 3/4 Federal H W 7  so i would buy some of those and they are a lot cheaper than TSS.... Rogers Sporting Goods has them in stock for 14.99 box ....

I would give the Winchester rooster xr's a try.

Load #9 tss.  There's some smoker 2 3/4" loads.  I used a 2 oz 2 3/4 load last year and it was devastating past 60 so I'm sure out of a fixed mod it might go to 40.

One of my personal current interests is nest predators and how a majority of hunters, where legal bait to the extent of chumming coons.  However once they get the predators concentrated they don't control them.

I've used 2 3/4"  for.........the past 58 years. no problem, just know your gun. I prefer a 1 5/8 load of #5's, years ago this was labeled a 2 3/4" Magnum.

From one Wingmaster lover to another, I'd buy these from Rogers @ $11.99 a box and give them a try, FEDERAL 12GA 2 3/4" MAG SHOK LEAD HIGH VELOCITY TURKEY LOAD. I'd suggest six shot. Two years ago I realized my Wingmaster had taken just about everything except a turkey and I needed to fix that. I used these in a 3" shell and was successful. Years ago I bought a replacement barrel that excepts screw-in chokes so I did use a Primos turkey choke. I'm sure you would be happy with the results. Good luck!
