OP used a big sheet of cardboard behind that 8.5"x11" target. Click on the image. You can see pattern density is also consistently low in the cardboard all the way around the paper. Seems centered to me.

Spread makes it seem like distance was further than 42 yards. OP - did you step off 42 yards or laser 42 yards?
A quality paddle caller will most run itself.  It just needs someone to carry it around the woods. Yoder409
