Watkins fiddle box/fiddle paddle wood combos ???

Kicking around calling Marlin and discussing a fiddle box/fiddle paddle set.

I'm more into native/domestic woods in my own boxes.  What "non-exotic" wood combos do you all have that are to your (extreme) liking

My favorite box call is an all walnut, with a persimmon over mineral stained poplar a very close second....

Hop horn over Walnut or bloodwood over butternut

Bloodwood isn't non- exotic. I like hop horn beam/ red cedar, serviceberry/ walnut

Hop horn over cherry ... i just got one from him at Unicoi and all the wood comes from his old home place and he will note this inside the long box .....

Not a domestic combo but mac ebony and cedar is one killer combo.

I've got a serviceberry over persimmon that's a killer.

Also consider a hop horn beam over walnut or apple.
