Gun: 20 ga 870 with 26 inch barrel
Loads tested: Longbeard 3 inch #6, Grand Slam w/ FCW 3 inch #5, Double X 3 inch #5, Hevi shot 13 3 inch #6
I've included some 20 yard pics to show how the pattern looks in close. I shoot a bead, no optics, so I don't want softball size patterns at 20 yards.
Long story short. Long beards look great from 20 - 38~ yards. Double X did not pattern well at all; immediate elimination as a potential shell/choke combo here. The 35 yard shot with double x basically covered a 2 x 3 ft target. Grand slam shot great out to ~35 yards where it began to fall apart quickly. Hevi shot did well but not worth shooting out of this particular choke. Would need to shoot this out of the .550 SSX that I have used for a few seasons.
