Afternoon Hunting

Finally got a bird pegged for my fiancé to fill her last tag. He has been doing the same thing every morning for a week and a half right now. Coming out to the field same spot almost same time. He has 2 hens and a jake with him. He gobbles all day long but doesn't budge much from his gang. We can easily set up and cut him off.  This is our last week of the season and we cant hunt a morning until Saturday due to work. However all day hunting is open now..... She wants to get out after work today but im leaning on letting him do his thing until Saturday cause I don't see his routine changing and we know we can be ready for him to step out. What would you guys do? Wait or don't wait..............Shes going to get her way either way........but just wondering if you think we would be messing up by trying to get after him in the afternoon.   Thanks

I think a spring gobbler can very easily change his routine in 5 days. At least enough to not be where you expect him to be. I'd hunt him, just not aggressively. If you know where he roosts, get within 100 yards about 2.5 hours before sunset and call very little. If it doesn't pay off, go with the original plan. Just my $.02

Thanks...I know exactly where he roost. even know his daily strut zone area also. The spot they come out to the field is with in 100 yards of the roost. And we plan on settling in just off the spot they come out, no decoys. Cause anytime the hens he's with see the decoy they turn and head right back in the woods.

I would agree with the thought to hunt him. Too many things can happen or go wrong in the days to the weekend.
