Here is my take on carrying gear.Take the absolute minimum.Its a hassle carrying gear.

That's pretty much my approach too, but to each his own. A lightweight nylon or mesh bag with a generous shoulder strap seems like the way to go unless you rent a sherpa.

I am almost to the point I don't even carry my vest half the time.  Light and mobile.
