Here is a first. Called a gobbler off the roost. He flew down 75 yd up a steep hill. I know from previous hunts when they fly down up in that field they're staying put so I quickly went up and concealed my movements behind a huge multi floral rose. I could see him in the field and he was drumming and gobblin, and all alone. I did one soft yelp in the opposite direction and he started walking to the right. The way I needed him to to get the shot. He was At 35 yards. If he went another 6 feet I'd have the clear shot. I took my safety off and he stepped out in the clear at 35 yards when in a split second I realized there was a cow right behind him too. I couldn't shoot. I'd focused on the bird and didn't realize a cow had come from the opposite direction. I waited another minute. Starting to shake with adrenaline when he alarm putted 3 times and went back behind the bush. Never to be seen again.
Good bird with a 10"+ beard. Hamburgers tonight.

I feel for ya buddy. I've had the same experience with cows more than I care to recall. You should eat beef for lunch and dinner! Ha! Best hunting to ya.

Had an experience similar to that once. It was a jake though so he wasn't gonna get shot. I was anticipating the other two jakes and longbeard to follow and they never did. I have no idea how a 2000lb charlais bull snuck up on me though. Guess I was occupied with the turkeys in front.

Blowing, stomping and running deer can sure mess up a good hunt too. Happens very often here in southwest Georgia, in fact it's happened to me three times in the last week.

That would make me want to eat a lot of beef. With a mean look on my face. :character0029:
Listen for the gobble

tomstopper

Used to hunt a lot of dairy farms in PA and had numerous times when dang cows ruined my hunts. Even on some occasions had them come in and mess with my decoys
