just curious as to why you don't see any Macassar ebony pots? I know its not cost as most are not afraid to pay extra for a good call. I know a Macassar lid on a box call is outstanding and would think it would make a great pot call?

noisy box call that seems to sound like a flock of juvenile hens pecking their way through a wheat field

I have a Macassar Ebony slate pot made by Glen Marrer that is not only beautiful but sounds great. I have Ebony pots made by Bill Lyman, John Sinclair, and Larry Gresser. They are aluminum, titanium, and copper playing surfaces.

The characteristics of the wood typically leads to metal surfaces working best for pots.  Here's an aluminum I picked up that sounds great, lots of feathers spitting out of this one

Soot on!
Those hard and dense exotics really make those metals come to life!

I have a few Sinclair macasser ebony pots...copper, titanium and stainless.

Macasser is nice.....but its relatively similar in density and hardness to gaboon ebony, cocobolo and kingwood.

Thinking on using this when I order my red slate call.
