Hybrid vest?

Hey guys. I hunt in the mountains out in NM and have been hunting with a pack for the last few years. It's nice to have the support of an actual pack when hauling a bird out, and a spot to stick extra clothes and decoys(when I actually use them), but it sure would be nice to find a turkey vest with a load bearing waist belt. I don't think walking off the mountain with a bird sagging in a game pouch would be very comfortable, but having some dedicated call pouches/pockets would be nice. Anyone found something like I'm looking for?

Gobblenut, I know you bump around these hills too...What's your setup?

I use a vest most of the time I have used a backpack some when I know I'm really covering ground. I have a few call specific pouches that can just be added to the waist belt of a backpack when I want them.

Just look for call pouches. I've got one that holds a box 2 pots some strikers with a little room for extra and then a simple box call holster and double pot holder.

Give access while walking to a few calls but let you carry gear a bit better on your back or a bird out.

Anther thing you can do is carry the bird with a strap over the shoulder tucked under your arm it's a lot better then the back of a vest and are really cheap. The jnight and Hale run and gun might work well for you too

Look at a Cabelas Tatr2, I love mine

I was just in BPS and saw exactly what your asking about.  Knight & Hale developed a "run & gun" hybrid vest thing.  That may be what your looking for.

That Knight N Hale might be the closest I can find to what I want.

Academy used to make one in their Game Winner brand that I loved, but for some reason didn't buy one. Was a typical vest with a seat almost as thick as a Cabela's vest, and had a metal cross frame in the back and a pack style waist belt. Unfortunately, they quit making them. A guy here has one in the classifieds and I PM'd him but never got a response.

Tenzing made their TP14(not the TV14) and it was almost EXACTLY what I wanted, but they quit making those too, not to mention they were HIGH priced.

The alps long spur looks excellent as does the knight n hale 200/300.I had it narrowed down to those two and the cabela's tactical tat'r 2.I went with the tater 2 because  of the reviews and price,it was on sale.I really like the look of both the alps and knight n hale vests.

Check out the 2018 MODEL Tenzing tv18.  Amazon had them backordered when I ordered in Feb. Finally received it a couple of weeks back and wore it the last few days and for me, it is exactly what I have been looking for.

Built more like a backpack and very well made. Next, I will be trying it in hotter weather as the past few days on GA have been colder that normal and windy.

They also make it in the TR version which has the built in frame to sit in

Could you post a few pictures of it when you get a chance?
