TSS choke question

Just received 3 boxes of the new Federal TSS that were backordered on cabelas. 3", 1 3/4 oz, #9s.

I am shooting a beretta 390 that I love and it has a 28" barrel. This is my first experience with TSS and my question is about chokes and what I need to be using.

I have a jeb's .650 and i was hoping to use it but I am also reading that it will be too tight. Also have a primos jellyhead that I think is .655. And then of course I have the factory full choke.

Thoughts? Do I need to buy a new choke or can I work with what I've got?  Trying to avoid shooting a bunch of these shells due to the price.  Thanks fellas.

I would think that jelly head would work great...mine was a .660 when I had one...all of the chokes will give you good patterns I bet but you will have to shoot em!

Shoot it and see what kind of patterns you get. I would think that it's going to be tight, but there isn't a lot of pattern history with Federals TSS yet.  Probably needs to be opened up to somewhere around .665

With the 9s I want it opened up I'm using .670 on my 870 changed from my Rhino .665 it wouldn't surprise me if that full would do the trick only way to know is the board though

When i order from apex i always ask them what they recommend because i know they have tested it, i bet you could call federal or look up what they recommend with their particular shot.

Spitten and drummen

From what I have learned over 4 years hand loading and patterning it , most all chokes including factory ones pattern extremely well. I have used several different guns with several different brands of chokes and constrictions and haven't found one yet that doesn't give a excellent hunting pattern.

Well, it took your suggestion and called federal. Guy that picked up was very helpful. I told him what I was shooting and he Immediately recommended the factory full choke. I am still gonna give the others a try but I have a feeling I will end up using the factory full. Somewhat disappointing as I have only used the jebs choke for 1 year and Really liked it but it is all about an effective pattern at this point.

I watched them Small Town Hunting fellas run 2.5 oz through a 650. Jebs. Looked like it worked for them through an 870.

That is very encouraging to hear because I would really like to use my jebs choke.  However, by most accounts it will be too tight but I am certainly going to give it a try.   I am very excited to get to the range because I just bought a new fastfire III  and I have not had a chance to sight it in either. I am going to start with some dove loads to get it dialed in and then I am going to bust out the TSS shells with the different choke combinations. Can't wait.

I have some on order as well.. I plan on trying a couple shots with my Rhino .665 .. I don't even know where my factory full choke is any more.. been years since I've see that thing :)
