410 barrel length?

How short of a barrel length could I get away with for a youth 410 and still get good patterns and performance? I'd like to be able to have my boy use it for clays and wingshooting as well as turkeys.

this is a new little set up.  I have been trying to keep notes on it.  We all going to learn together but the longer barrel has been the go to gun as of now.  That said we may play with choke size and fix that. 
Tell us just how dead do you want them to be and we will see if we can get that for you.

Mine has a 26" barrel. A lot may also depend on what shells you are planning to use. Handloads or factory, lead or TSS, shot size too, fixed or screw in chokes.....

26 for the 410 and 21 inch for the 20 gauge..my opinion
