Finally got the motor started on a tractor rebuild I'm doing to finance a new turkey gun and got into the woods yesterday afternoon after a 3 day break from huning. Yello Acorns and I set up on a high traffice field for about 30 minutes. I decided to walk down the field to call over another field and maybe pull something across the fence. About the time we get 20 yards from the first setup I see two big red throats and white heads 200 yds away at the end of the field. When I hit the dirt Bruce instinctively gets down and we hump it back to the tree. Bruce gets set up and I'm behind the trees and big thorn bush in the field while he is in side the clump.  As soon as I hit the call they come running halfway down the field. Another call and they charged in. I couldn't hear what Bruce was saying other than something about the one on the right and then "I'm going to take him". Well he knocks his down and I leaned out far enough to see this other bird run up out of the low spot in the field and stop out there for an easy kill. It wasn't until later I found out it was a darn jake. I guess I got caught up in the moment of getting my 3rd bird and also getting a double with my best bud.  Made a decision to check out the spurs and not shoot one unless they are at least over an inch.
