My dad and I went back to the range to dial in our guns one last time before the season. The weather today was less than perfect, but the temps were close to hunting temps so it's a good gauge. All shots at 40 yards lasered with 3.5" H13 #7's or Mag Blends. My dads 870 with a Primos Tightwad .660 choke surprised me when it put up 319 in the 10" at 40 yards, with another shot registering at 291. It has a real dense center though and the outer edge is lacking some pellets.
My 535 with the IC .660 put up 260 which is 30 pellets less than the other day, but the temperature was lucky to be 50, so it was about 10 degrees cooler than when I shot the last time. There was also a good bit of wind that we tried to shoot in between, but it didn't always work out that way. My gun with the 3" mag blends put 158 hits in the 10".
Here's a quick video showing the area we have to pattern as I shoot my Optima Pro 12 gauge. I trying not to expect to much out of the muzzleloader, and I'm shooting slightly under 1 1/2 ounce by weight of #6 lead. Right now it's only a 25 yard gun.
