Mouth Calls-Need a Recommendation

I am looking for recommendations for both Halloran Mouth Calls and Gooserbat.

I have not run any of these calls before and would like to see how they operate.

I tend to prefer a relatively mild cut without tons of rasp.

Thanks for the information

Everyone has a different mouth and all not all calls will run the same in different mouths.

Finding the right mouth call is a two step process.

Best I can tell you is try to find the cut that suits you best and then find the maker(s) that's build the best call in that cut for your mouth.

I'm a right of center guy. So anything a cut on the right side like a batwing, combo cut, etc. I run the best. Personal favorites are a tom teasers buttnaked hen or his hillbilly hen and a gooserbat heckler. Tommy's are "easier" to run as fair as air pressure goes. Gooserbat are stretched tighter but still run easy and IMO the gooserbat has a bit better sound to me, especially on yelps. Much more pronounced high/low yelp. Either way both are great guys and make awesome calls.

I like a Gooserbat Bacon.
I agree, the bacon fits your description pretty well.
Did I do that?

I love Halloran mouth calls. The she devil and total knock out are my favorites by far. I have seen several turkeys go down with these calls this year not to mention years past as i have used them for several years. But i will say they are more on the raspy side. I always cut a little off the end of the batwing to take rasp out. I cut them close to being even with the reeds.

Take a look at Pecker Wrecker turkey calls.  They are very easy to blow and still get loud when you crank down on them.

Halloran Natural born killer is my favorite batwing, TKO is steller too and accounted for a whole pile of birds over the years for me

Another guy to look at that builds killer calls and doesn't over rasp them is Houndstooth

Gooserbat Bacon will be a good choice. If you like ghost cuts, check out the OSS or the Dr Turkey

I'm with the others on Halloran mouth calls...... TKO is my personal favorite with the NBK right behind that but I have a new favorite......Halloran's new Combo Cut.....wicked...runs easy....has a clean clear front and a nasty back-end. Purrs awesome and cuts with ease. Highly recommend this call if you are a fan of Combo Cuts that run on the easier side...not too easy mind you....he has a winner here again! I just ordered 3 more last night......the one I have drew first blood this morning...first time in the woods this year.  :OGturkeyhead:

You did not mention this one but the Heart Throb by Hooks is my go to call now.  At six bucks a piece you can't beat them.

This!!    :z-winnersmiley: Buy a couple from both Halloran and Gooserbat.  Everyone needs a couple dozen diaphragm calls laying around that don't work quite right for them.  At least that's what I tell my wife.  Haha   ;D

X2. I've been using some gooserbat calls the past couple years and really like them but the last run I got from him were older discontinued stuff I believe but it is a V-cut. I've found that with his calls, because the frame appears slightly narrower, I can get an older raspier Yelp towards the front of my pallet and a younger cleaner Yelp towards the back. I might be wrong on the frame thing as it could just be that there's less tape. Either way, I like them.
