I've found an addiction...

Alright guys some of you have replied and seen my posts recently. My first "custom" pot this year was a Halloran Twisted Sister which really sparked my interest. Always been a box call passed down from my father kind of guy to locate while running and gunning guy and the rest was mouth calls only. It has worked well but the Halloran blew me away as far as any pots I've ever messed with goes. That lead to a Hank's padauk aluminum which contributed to 2 birds being called in, one of which took the infamous dirt nap a week ago. Stopped gobbling around 7:45 when he was hot on the Halloran early and struck him again at 9:15 with the Hanks when nothing else would make him talk.Dead at 9:45ish. I now have a Lon Trice black acrylic aluminum/aluminum on order that I am thrilled about, but I still haven't had enough. It's a disease I've discovered. The problem I have is I do LOVE the aluminum I have (Hanks slick) but I've noticed on a early Alabama spring morning, it just won't play. Moisture is heavy in the morning in my parts and even with the aluminum freshly conditioned, striker roughed, and top rubbed in rain chalk it will still slip. When the suns gets high, it's a charm. ALL of that being said to ask, what surface now? Give me something FOR those muggy Alabama days that won't let me down in the moment and then I just want to see what you fellas recommend surface/callmaker wise that spits feathers and should be in my vest.

I'd recommend an Oak Ridge Sapele Aluminum or Enticer Silver Thunder Extreme Aluminum with his waterproof striker.
Even on damp mornings ,your striker won't slip on the Oak Ridge call and only conditioning needed is a quick wipe with some rubbing alcohol on a paper towel or rag. The Enticer call with the carbon striker will play fine on damp mornings and will even run if soaked with rain. I always have the Enticer call with me in case it rains. If ordering the enticer call, I'd recommend you order a few of his call covers.

Coop 1082,
Do yourself a favor and hide all your credit cards and money. This addiction can get serious. About a year ago I got hooked. No lie , I bet I spent over 3,000.00 in just one year. That being said, I love my Schaffers, Lonzos, Scott Hock and Hollaran calls. These guys on this forum will not guide you wrong. It's a great group of guys and with great knowledge. In fact, I blame them for my addiction! Lol

I am fairly new at this game, but it seems like you buy one pot and you see other good looking pots or great sound potential and you got to have it. Is there a cure for this. You look at your newly acquired collection and you say I can only play one at a time and you wonder how many will end up in the closet and just use a new favorite.
Also I have found it is a science to get the right striker with the right pot in the right weather conditions.

I use a Cane Creek Cottonmouth Striker that I really like for wet mornings. It has an acrylic tip & works well on most calls especially aluminum. My hunting buddy downed a nice gobbler Saturday morning here in Alabama using the Enticer Silver Thunder Extreme Aluminum. It's become mine & his favorite aluminum call.
